SAN FRANCISCO - In a monumental victory for the gay rights movement, the California Supreme Court overturned a voter-approved ban on gay marriage Thursday in a ruling that would allow same-sex couples in the nation's biggest state to tie the knot.



Domestic partnerships are not a good enough substitute for marriage, the justices ruled 4-3 in an opinion written by Chief Justice Ron George.

Outside the courthouse, gay marriage supporters cried and cheered as news spread of the decision.

"Our state now recognizes that an individual's capacity to establish a loving and long-term committed relationship with another person and responsibly to care for and raise children does not depend upon the individual's sexual orientation," the court wrote.

The city of San Francisco, two dozen gay and lesbian couples and gay rights groups sued in March 2004 after the court halted San Francisco's monthlong same-sex wedding march.

"Today the California Supreme Court took a giant leap to ensure that everybody — not just in the state of California, but throughout the country — will have equal treatment under the law," said City Attorney Dennis Herrera, who argued the case for San Francisco.

erm.. I went and edited my poem "the piggyback angel" because I was unhappy with it, and I am STILL unhappy with it. O.< I always have this problem.. I am too analytical. blah..
whatelse? I played wow earlier with donte. that was fun ^.^ too bad he doesn't like maple story ohwell, wow is just like champions of norath (spelling?) and I liked that game. I'm not really that into it. I think after about a month, I wont want to touch it again for a year. lol I get bored of things like that easily. he is going to send me the expansions soon, I think tomorrow. I am currently on a 10-day trial account.

I keep forgetting to buy tylenol pm >.< my landlady said she only takes one a night when she feels like she needs it, so incase she needs to get up in the middle of the night, she can get back to sleep. and then in the morning she wont be groggy because she only took one. but I dunno.. I would need it every night. I hate looking over at the clock and realizing its 4am and I'm STILL AWAKE!!! grrr.. hopefully someday I will learn how to sleep like a normal person. my nighttime tea helps a little. its relaxing, but it doesn't really do much.
emily got 4 shots on friday. poor baby.. she screamed her head off. they gave her one in each leg at the same time, and then gave her one in her leg and arm at the same time. she was pretty upset with me for the rest of the day. I think she remembered I was the one that held her there. alvin didn't go with us because he was being.. well, a guy. but he cleaned up the whole house and was being really nice to me to try and make up for it lol men.. ugh.. XD
lalala.. sleepy... I want to go to the park tomorrow. but I also want to go to shelby's house, this old lady who is teaching me how to make lolita dresses. maybe if I get up early enough, we can go to the park first, and then I can hed over to shelby's.. we'll see what happens. I forgot to call her yesterday and today. I am such a flake sometimes.. shes very nice. I am sure she will understand. emily had a doctors appointment and wasn't feeling well yesterday.. >.>

ohohoh we finally got a memory card for our camera!! woot.
and today I bought wax soda candy juice thingies!!
I know you don't care, but I love them and I'm very happy we have them here in town!
oh and since I lost 10lbs I decided to cheat and get myself my favorite cookies, turtle somethings.. chocolate chip, caramel, and walnut!!


we need to color eggs tomorrow too..
and take emily easter egg hunting..

I've felt tired all day. I dont know why. I think I got enough sleep. I usually dont get enough sleep as it is. never have. thanks insomnia *yawn*

I want to color eggs this weekend. I know easter is over but we didnt do much on easter due to the wonderful illinois weather I keep reminding myself atleast I wont get a sunburn just by checking the mail. no more california heat. *sigh* but I miss it. even ghetto merced. ew. its just the familiarity. I dont miss anything specific. just the FAMILIARITY. there is nothing good about merced, except maybe that its 2 hours away from san francisco but I only went to SF once a year anyway. and I can still do that when i visit. after a while, things here will become more familiar.. I will adjust here, we can actually own a house before we're 80. lol here we can actually rent one! we could never afford one in cali. not with one source of income and until emily is talking, thats all we will have.
